Professional Golf Staff

  • Director of Golf - Mr. Michael Holiday, PGA
    • Michael Holiday, a Huntington, Long Island native, grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania, where his golf career began at the young age of 13. In the small town of Hawley, PA, Michael began his career as a bag room attendant at the Paupack Hills Country Club, which was beginning of his journey to become a successful P.G.A. Professional.

Michael had ventured a long way since his days at Paupack Hills CC, discovering opportunities that scenic Hilton Head Island had to offer, where he spent five years expanding the skills necessary to become a successful P.G.A. Professional. Evolving from a member of the outside service at Long Cove Club, which was ranked #1 in South Carolina by Golf Magazine 1999, Michael received his first position as an Assistant Golf Professional at Moss Creek. Moss Creek became a stepping-stone for his career, which brought him to one of the most prestigious resorts in the United States, Harbour Town Golf Links. Under the direction of the esteemed Director of Golf and mentor, John Farrell, Michael became an Assistant Professional of the Top 100 ranked course from 1998-2001 which hosts the P.G.A. Tours World Com Classic, “The Heritage of Golf”.

Michael decided to leave Hilton Head Island to pursue his golf career in what he thought was the most prestigious section in the industry, the NJ/Met Section. In 2002, he joined the staff at UMCC as their First Assistant Professional, where he was involved in all aspects of managing the golf operation. In 2003, he earned his Class “A” P.G.A. membership, where during the winter months he was fortunate enough to accept a seasonal responsibility as Director of Instruction at The Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club.

2005 proved to be a milestone in Michael’s career, where he proudly became the Head Golf Professional at Upper Montclair CC. This year Michael will be celebrating his 18th season at the Club, where currently as their Director of Golf he strives to provide the highest quality of service for both his membership and guests.

Michael currently resides in Midland Park with his wife, Michelle, twin daughters, Samantha and Isabella, and their English bulldog, Bubba.

  • Director of Instruction - Mr. Tyler Hall, PGA
    • Congratulations to UMCC's Tyler Hall for winning the NJ State Open for the second year in a row! Click Here for more info.

My name is Tyler Hall and I have been surrounded by sports and the game of golf my entire life. As the son of a successful “Class A” PGA Professional, Larry Hall, golf has had an intricate role in developing me into the person I am today. I have enjoyed an illustrious playing career ranging all the way from Junior Golf to competing with the world’s best on the PGA Tour. I proudly earned a full scholarship to play Div. 1 NCAA Golf at the University of Kansas, where I graduated in 2004 with a Bachelors Degree in Communication Studies.
Having won multiple times on every level from Junior to Amateur to Professional, highlighted with wins at the 2011 MGA/Met Open Championship and the 2015 NJ State Open Championship, I know what it takes both physically and mentally to attain such lofty success. I grew up as a product of hard work as I proudly took my handicap from a 28 to a 3 in one summer when I committed to playing competitively at 15 years old. I have always been a true believer in the great Ben Hogan’s philosophy “The answer is in the Dirt!” To me, there is simply no way to find out what you are made of if you aren’t willing to outwork your competition.

Growing up in a household with two parents that were NCAA athletes at the University of Miami, as well as an older sister who played softball at College of Charleston, the bar was always set very high for me to follow. I prided myself on learning my craft to the best of my ability and always had an acute awareness of how my body was moving. It was with this work ethic that I became a student of the game at a very young age and aspired to become a Tour Player. Throughout my journey, I have had the opportunity to work with some of the best instructors in the world, where I acquired a vast knowledge of all aspects of the game and learned how to perform under Championship pressure. After battling back from 4 surgeries on my thumb, wrist, shoulder and lower back to win the 2011 Met Open, it was then when I decided to dedicate myself to really understanding the body and its unique functionalities. It is with that notion, that a proudly achieved and currently hold an ACE Personal Training Certification and have become a certified Tathata Golf movement specialist. In 2015 and 2016, I was proudly awarded the NJPGA Assistant Player of the Year and crowned as the best player in the State of New Jersey.
