Welcome to The Upper Montclair Country Club. This informational guide is designed to enhance your golf experience and familiarize you with important club policies in preparation for your visit to The Upper Montclair Country Club.
Please observe the following policies to make your visit with us more enjoyable:
Play Etiquette: Upper Montclair Country Club takes pride in its less than four-hour Pace of Play. It is expected that all players, at regular intervals, check the position of their group with respect to the foursome ahead of you. Courtesy requires that slower players allow others to play through. We ask that all players ensure that divots are replaced, sand traps are raked, all ball marks on the greens are properly repaired and carts are operated in a manner complying with Club policy.
Pace of Play: Every golfer should play “ready golf”, and each group should finish their round in four hours and fifteen minutes or less. Slow play that inconveniences others will not be tolerated, as it is discourteous to those playing behind. Upper Montclair offers six different sets of tees with layouts ranging from 5,568 to 6,955 yards. We encourage all players to choose tees that are appropriate for their skill level.
Club Dress Code Policy: Appropriate denim attire includes jeans/ pants, jackets, proper length shorts, skirts, skirts, skirts, skirts, skirts, skorts, capris, and dresses. Denim must be neat and free of any rips, stains and excess wear. UMCC does not allow cut-offs, overalls, baggy jeans, bleached/acid washed or torn denim.
Gentlemen must wear a collared shirt tucked in anytime on Club property, which must always remain tucked in. Please note the following clothing is always prohibited: shirts with slogans/pictures, hats/visors (in any active dining area and in Clubhouse), cargo shorts/pants, jogging/sweatshirts/suits, tee/athletic shirts.
Children 14 years of age and older are subject to the UMCC Dress code. Children under 14 years of age should be appropriately dressed.
UMCC Golf Attire: Tucked in shirts with at least a one-inch collar, Bermuda length shorts (no higher than 4-inches above the knee) or slacks for gentlemen. Appropriate golf shirts, dresses, skirts, split-skirts, Bermuda length shorts, capri pants and slacks for women.
Hat Policy: Hats are to be forward always facing on Club property, and removed in the Clubhouse, which includes indoor and outdoor dining areas. Please note that hats should also be removed if sitting down at the Halfway House. If passing by the Halfway House, hats can remain on. The hat policy applies to both ladies and men.
Changing Shoes: Shoes must be changed in the locker rooms only.
Cell Phone Policy: The use of cell phones is permitted only in the locker rooms, front lobby, or outside the building in an appropriate area. Cell phones must be set to vibrate mode so as not to ring while on Club property. This consists of all areas of the Clubhouse, outside patios, the golf course, or driving range. If a call is received, the recipient must remove himself or herself from the dining areas and accept the call in the designated areas. If a call is received on the golf course, golfers are asked to dispense with the call quickly to avoid holding up play.
